a new year’s resolution

My resolution.. hmmm (it’s always been the same). It’s been to lose weight or excercise more diligently.
This year it will be not only to choose the things that I will do but the things that I won’t do.
I will slow down.
I will remember to practice my breathing/relaxing techniques.
I won’t say yes to all of the volunteer opportunities.
I will delegate or ask other’s for help.
I will take time besides swimming for myself. Whether it is a long soak in the tub, coffee with a GF or watching my favorite detective shows.
I will try and help others – whether it is visiting the nursing home or working at a soup kitchen. I want to help those less fortunate.
I will continue to make myself better, mentally, physically and emotionally.
I will try to be a better Mom and Daughter.
I will stay contact with my Family/Friends on a more regular basis. I miss them.
I won’t let the excuse of a busy schedule, or being too tired keep me from visiting, getting together or calling Family/Friends.
I will read the news daily. I want to be more informed of the world around me.
I will write weekly. I will start the project.
I will catch up on my scrapbooking.
Ok… so that is the mind of me. …. the body – the reality – I can’t do all of these things that I want to do. What I can do is to not beat myself up for falling behind on my to do’s. I can accept the fact that my health is going to hold me back on days, that I will need to take more time to do what needs to be done. I can learn to say yes to help that is given without feeling like a failure. I can take the opportunity on days that I feel good and do the extra housework, or the trip to town. I can lay down on the couch and take a nap and not feel like I am lazy and not “being there” for my family.
Wow… that is a lot for a resolution. Hope I don’t go into a fog before I print this otherwise I might not remember any of the I will’s and I won’ts.
Oh … and I want to lose weight and excercise more… LOL :)
