Searching for a doctor.

Searching for a doctor.

I am in search for a Rheumatologist. It is very frustrating. I was sent to one in a nearby town to be diagnosed. As my symptoms begin to increase I am finding it difficult for me to keep track of what I should be doing for these new symptoms.
My most recent that I have been experiencing for the past 2 weeks feels like your skin has been sunburned.
It is described as a pain, generally on the skin. Examples are pain caused my mild pressure from clothing, a light touch, a gentle massage or sheets rubbing against the skin. It is called Allodynia and believed to be a hypersensitive reaction that may result from central sensitaization with fibromyalgia. The pain originates with specialized nerves, that sense things like temperature and a painful stimuli right from the skin.
The good thing is that I know what it is – the bad thing is that I don’t know what I can do about it. I actually started writing this blog 2 days ago. At that time, I was miserable with this new symptom. Today, I am much better – it seems to have faded.
I called yesterday and left a message with my primary to refer me to another rheum. since the last one did not feel that he wanted to be anyone’s primary for fibro. I started searching for a doctor on my own – using websites that a friend had told me about – but how can I just go into a computer and choose a doctor with no knowledge of this person’s abilities or with no one knowing this person.
Today, my Doctor’s nurse called me and have referred me to an Internal Pain Specialist – luckily at the hospital in my hometown. Now I wait for the call to schedule my appointment.
I had started logging my daily symptoms and have not continued so I have decided that starting tomorrow I will log everything so that I can share this with what I hope to be someone I can have help me do whatever I can to lessen each flare up.
